Why does my 2000 Ford Ranger oil pressure gauge jump?

I have noticed recently that the oil pressure gauge in my truck drops to zero then jumps back to normal when I accelerate from a complete stop. It's only for a split-second. If I accelerate any other time it's fine even from a near stop. What gives?
Turns out that it was low on oil. I'd feel pretty silly but my hubby thought that maybe the filter was clogged.

Sounds like you're low on oil Sweetpea.Check it & don't over fill it,you could blow a head gasket.It jumps like that because when you accelerate the oil sloshes to the back of the oil pan briefly & it is'nt sucked into the oil pick up.

Despite their name, Yellow Headed Amazon Parrots did not originate in the Amazon. They actually originated along the coastal regions of Mexico. Their beautiful colors and bold striking marking are what helped to make them so popular as pets. They are predominantly bright green with a vivid yellow head and a beautiful red patch on each wing. Their native habitat is now primarily in Central America where there are large tropical forests and swamps that allow them to nest safely. Their beauty has caused them to become rare and endangered. Poaching of the birds as well as deforestation of the region has caused a dramatic drop in the number of birds.

Yellow Headed Amazons which are breed in captivity are readily available but they have become quite expensive to buy. People then to like them because they can be very verbal and talkative. The problem is that the ability to talk varies greatly with each individual bird. Some will talk your ear off while others may never say a word. They are amazingly intelligent. They are also playful and have great a great sense of humor. Add to that the fact that they can be extremely noisy and you've got a housefull of excitement. They like attention and if they do not receive it they will certainly let you know that they are needy at the moment. The challenge to the owner is to get the bird to replace all of it's screeching with intelligent words. A wonderful and rewarding challenge.

These birds tend to be very active and they need an environment that will allow them the space to fly and move around. There cage is a wonderful place to house them but they need time each day to get out and about. The good news is that even though they are quite large and can be quite destructive, their intelligence allows them to be very well trained where they will not tear your house apart. Obviously, part of the training is to provide lots of chew toys and branches for them to play with.

The male yellow headed parrot will grow to about 15 inches long while the female will be slightly smaller. Their hooked beak is used to crack seeds and nuts and also as a hand to help them to grab and climb. Their feet have two toes pointing forward and two toes pointing backwards. The perfect setup for grasping branches and food.

In their natural habitat their diet consists mostly fruit, nuts, corn, flowers, etc. At home, the owner needs to not only provide fruits and vegetables but also seeds and pellet food.

One of the biggest considerations for a person considering adopting a Yellow Headed Amazon Parrot is its life expectancy. Birds this large can live 60+ years with some reported to reach 100 years. For the right person, these birds will give years and years of happiness, pleasure, and entertainment.

When considering which water softener to purchase there are some important factors to consider including some significant health issues. This is because water softeners actually use sodium to alter the water. As we all know, sodium is a major cause of increased blood pressure and other serious health problems.

Sodium is an essential mineral because it's necessary for fluid and electrolyte balance in your body. However, consuming too much salt (also known as sodium chloride) may lead to high blood pressure, a condition called hypertension.

How Do Water Softeners Work:

Water softeners or whole house water treatment systems use a process called ion exchange to remove minerals from a water supply before it enters the home. This involves passing the water through a tank filled with resin beads that are coated with ions of either sodium or potassium chloride.

In simple terms, the sodium or potassium ions in the water softener swap places with the calcium or magnesium ions (which are the hard minerals that cause hard water stains and limescale) in a domestic water supply.

What To Consider Before Purchase:

• Firstly, sodium chloride is usually less expensive than potassium chloride although the latter is better for the environment. This is because the system has to have the brine solution discharged to recharge the ions on the resin beads.

• If the potassium solution is discharged it has less impact on the environment and can actually be put on lawns as potassium is a key plant nutrient!

• Contrary to a common misconception, using sodium salt in your water softener will not adversely affect your plumbing. Most modern plumbing is made of PVC plastic and is not affected by increased levels of either sodium or potassium chloride. Sodium salt can, however, reduce the amount of maintenance required for your brine tank.

• For those concerned about the health issues of how much sodium is put into the water by a water softener, the answer is, it all depends. The harder your water supply the more sodium ions are needed to soften it. That said, studies indicate that even water softened with sodium chloride has a low concentration of sodium.

• The costs of water softeners are usually far outweighed by the benefits and cost savings obtained, through using softened water.

Your local health department can tell you the sodium and other mineral content of your community's water supply.

Options if Your Tap Water is High in Sodium:

• Consider switching to another type of water-purification system.

• Buy demineralized water for drinking and cooking.

• Softening only the hot water and using unsoftened cold water for drinking and cooking.

Ultimately the choice between sodium or potassium salts in your water softener is a personal one, depending on the presence of potential health issues with your water supply, cost, and environmental priorities.

Whichever one you decide on, the advantages of a water softener far outweigh the disadvantages. As well as all the above they can also be helpful in reducing cleaning time by preventing hard water stains and limescale forming around the home.
