Barn Boredom?
I'm usually at the barn waiting for my mom to come pick me up, and my horse is back in his stall. My friend is sometimes there, too. What can we do when we're waiting? Maybe a game that includes one of the horses? Like, for example, a game called, "The Mucking Race." Where you compete with your friend and see who can muck out stalls the fastest, then inspect each other's stalls and see if they missed anything. The person who misses the least of things, or doesn't miss anything at all wins!
That was just an example, but what other little games could we play? I was also thinking of, "Guess That Horse." It's like 20 questions except you have to be thinking of a horse in your barn, see if the component can guess what horse it is by the questions they ask!
What other games can you think of? This can also give other people ideas about what to do when you're bored at the barn too!
I used to do a really thorough job of grooming my horse, and the horse next to him, and maybe the horse next to that one...or sometimes the entire barn and some of the pastures, depending on how long my mom was going to take. I would also braid my horse's mane and tail (good practice for future shows - professional braiders are expensive!) with ribbons or colored bands or whatever else I had thought to bring that day. One of the people that boarded there even offered to pay me to groom their horse! I really love grooming horses, but if it isn't your thing you could try organizing the barn or sweeping and cleaning. That doesn't sound like much fun though...I spy or "Don't look at the horse but guess its markings" - harder than it sounds unless the horse is your own. hmm...Make up stories about your horse and "if _____ was human he would be a...." I remember my horse was a skinny (but really good looking) nerd because he is smart and really pretty but a little on the short side and he used to be pretty thin from lack of muscle. I would normally bring a sudoku book with me if I knew I was going to be alone.
